Help in creating custom AIML scripts and making AI see it

I am creating custom AIML scripts to be used for greetings to new avatars ass well as to hold conversations. However, no matter what I do It never reads my custom scripts and is always responding using the default AIML scripts in the aiml folder. How do i make it so that it reads my custom made scripts? Is there an option i need to enable in the aiml_config folder? I even tried removing the defaulting and leaving only my custom script and it still won't work. Instead it responds with a blank message when  I talk to it even though I use the exact sentence found in the custom made script.

I'm sorry but I just bundled Alice, that someone else made, and I have no idea about the proper format of AIML. I know other people made successful modifications.

Possibly have to swap the files with in that plugin's solution then rebuild to get it to stick.
